Today’s Reflection
As Christians, we have a variety of ways to address poverty. Engaging with Scripture and poverty during Lent, like you’re doing now, means we must also ask essential questions about the role we have in alleviating poverty.
—Elizabeth Mae Magill, When Did We See You? A Lenten Exploration of Poverty and Wealth(Upper Room Books, 2026)
Today’s Question
What can you and your church do to help alleviate poverty in your community?
Today’s Scripture
Its rulers give judgment for a bribe;its priests teach for a price;its prophets give oracles for money;yet they lean upon the Lord and say,“Surely the Lord is with us!No harm shall come upon us.”
—Micah 3:11 (NRSVUE)
Prayer for the Week
God, as I fast this Lent, teach me to see you in the faces of the least of these. Draw close to me so I will give generously to the poor, stranger, sick, and imprisoned. Amen.
