Scripture:
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)
Reflection:
Good Friday is the most solemn day on the Christian calendar, marking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It’s a day of mourning, but also of profound gratitude. As we remember the cross, we’re reminded of the depths of God’s love—a love that would sacrifice everything for us.
Jesus took on the weight of our sins, the pain we deserved, and the punishment we could not bear. Yet through His suffering, He brought us peace, healing, and the promise of redemption. The cross looked like defeat, but it was actually the greatest victory—over sin, death, and the grave.
In the quiet of this day, let us not rush to Easter. Sit with the sorrow. Reflect on the cost. Let your heart be moved by the love that held Jesus on that cross—not nails, but love for you and me.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for enduring the cross, for suffering in my place, and for offering Yourself as the perfect sacrifice. Help me to never take Your grace for granted. Let Your love transform my heart, and may I live in a way that honors the price You paid. Today, I remember. Today, I mourn. But I also trust in the hope to come.
Amen.
