Scripture Reading:
John 14:27 (NRSV) – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”
Reflection:
Jesus didn’t just talk about peace—He gave it. Not a fragile, temporary peace like the world offers, but a deep, soul-settling peace that holds steady even when life is hard.
In this verse, spoken just before His death, Jesus knew fear would try to grip the hearts of His followers. But He left them—and us—with something greater: His own peace. This is peace that doesn’t depend on comfort or clarity. It’s rooted in His presence, His promises, and His unshakable love.
Jesus doesn’t tell us we won’t face trouble. He tells us not to let trouble take over our hearts. Why? Because He’s with us. And where He is, peace reigns.
Prayer:
Prince of Peace, thank You for the gift of Your calm in the chaos. Remind me that I don’t need to earn peace or chase it—You’ve already given it to me. Help me to lean into Your presence today. Quiet my heart, still my fears, and let Your peace guard my thoughts. Amen.
Action Step for Today:
Take five minutes today to sit quietly in God’s presence. No distractions, no to-do list—just be. As you sit, slowly repeat this truth: “Jesus, Your peace is mine.” Let that truth settle deep in your spirit.
