Scripture:

“Just as a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him.”—Psalm 103:13 (NRSV)

Devotional:

On this Father’s Day, we pause to honor the men who have shaped our lives with love, strength, and wisdom. Whether biological, adoptive, spiritual, or chosen fathers—these men reflect, in their best moments, the heart of our Heavenly Father.

Psalm 103 reminds us that God is compassionate toward His children, like a loving father. This compassion is not distant or cold—it’s tender, attentive, and faithful. Earthly fathers are called to mirror this divine love: offering guidance with grace, discipline with understanding, and presence with purpose.

For many, Father’s Day brings fond memories and heartfelt gratitude. For others, it may stir pain or longing. No matter your earthly experience, our perfect Father in Heaven is constant and true—ever ready to embrace, forgive, and lead us.

Let today be a reminder not just of our dads, but of the ultimate Father who loves unconditionally and leads us in everlasting faithfulness.

Today’s Invitation:

Take a moment to thank the father figures in your life with a prayer or a word of encouragement. If you are a father, reflect on how your actions and heart can point your children—and others—to the love of God. And if today is hard, lean into the arms of your Heavenly Father, who knows your every need and loves you deeply.

Prayer:

Gracious God, thank You for fathers and father figures who reflect Your love and compassion. Help them lead with wisdom and grace. For those who mourn, heal their hearts. For those who rejoice, bless their joy. Most of all, remind us that in You, we are forever held, known, and loved. Amen.
