Scripture:

"Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth."Psalm 46:10 (NRSV)

Reflection:

Life moves fast. Our days are packed with responsibilities, noise, and the pressure to stay one step ahead. From the moment we wake up, we are pulled in a dozen directions—emails, family needs, deadlines, and unexpected disruptions. In the midst of all this, God gently invites us to something radically different: stillness.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”This is not just a calming suggestion—it’s a spiritual command. It is God's way of saying, "Let go. Trust Me. Stop striving and remember who I am."

Stillness doesn’t mean inaction. It means we intentionally pause our inner noise, releasing control and laying our concerns before the One who rules over all. It’s in the stillness that we are reminded that God is not only present, but powerful, not only near, but exalted. The chaos of life does not change His character. He remains sovereign, steady, and faithful.

Psalm 46 paints a picture of God as our refuge and strength, “a very present help in trouble.” This reassurance builds throughout the psalm, culminating in verse 10—where we’re called to step back and look up. When we do, we begin to see that even when the earth shakes, God's throne is unshaken.

In stillness, we don’t lose strength—we find it.

Prayer:

God of peace and power, I confess that I often fill my days with noise and activity, trying to solve everything on my own. Teach me to embrace the stillness, not as weakness, but as a sacred space where I can meet You. Let my soul find rest in Your sovereignty. Remind me that You are God, and You are enough. Amen.

Today's Invitation:

Take 10 minutes today to sit in silence before God. No agenda. No words. Just you and the quiet awareness of His presence. Let the silence speak louder than your worries, and allow His peace to fill the space where anxiety has lived.

If distractions come, gently return your focus to the truth: He is God—and you are held.
